The hustle and bustle of Salem,
Encompassed the stingy mist of witchcraft;
John Proctor the humble farmer,
Never knew he would be caught in the aftermath.
After that meeting with Abigail,
He was never to be seen in Salem again;
Though it was all in the past,
He did not want to rake up the pain.
Mary Warren brought news back from the court,
That Goody Proctor was accused;
Despite the shock the Proctors received,
The poppet Mary Warren made kept them amused.
Goody Proctor was accused of witchcraft,
He did not bear to see her go;
Against that she was bound up in chains,
John Proctor knew that Abigail saw her as a foe.
The Proctor house's accusation for witchcraft,
Mary Warren goes to court to say they're all lies;
However Abigail's hunger for power,
Made her think otherwise.
Eventually Mary joined Abigail’s side,
Quickly gave in to the head;
Accused John Proctor of witchcraft instead,
And he screamed out that God is dead.
Reverend Hale gave Proctor a glimpse of survival,
By signing a false confession;
Tearing up the signed declaration,
Proctor resigned himself to the rope in sheer satisfaction.
Alas the execution was underway,
This time with weeps and people crying away;
But John Proctor knew that he was innocent,
And that he would come back and live another day.
